The 5 things that I took away from American History 2

Image
American History 2 has taught me many lessons, but where did these lessons come from? The best teacher is experience this is because people will learn from failure which will cause them work even harder to improve or make themselves or the thing they are pursuing better than it was before. History is the greatest example of this, history teaches so many things. The reason we pay attention to the past and listen to older wiser people is because they teach us not to make the same mistake they did and they want us to improve to get better and gain an advantage so we as the future generation can make things easier and more efficient. Today I will be discussing some of the reasons why this important. One of the first that comes to mind when I think of lessons that the past has taught the United States of America which is us as a society is the power of willingness to fight for what we want. Americans have always had the fight and the want for something that they desire ever since the begi

Capitalism vs Communism in The Cold War

Image
This is a heated debate between capitalism and communism, this controversial topic has been going on ever since the beginning of the cold war in 1949. But first we have to examine the differences the two. Capitalism is "Capitalism is an economic system and an ideology based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit." This displays that this government grows with the help of the people and their contributions to the government by playing their role to increase the revenue of themselves and the government. Communism is "a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs." This shows that people in a communist country are demanded by the government for all of their things. Basically everyone is equal in this society which will cause many problems in the country. This further int

The Stock Markets National Impact on America

Image
First what is the Stock Market, the market is "a equity market or share market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks, which represent ownership claims on businesses; these may include securities listed on a public stock exchange as well as those only traded privately." The Stock Market is a very powerful thing ans many powerful people in America play the game of the stock market. This is a very high risk high reward game and this is a dangerous game that has been played in America from as early 1817 when the New York Stock exchange was created and founded on March 8th 1817.  Many things have happened to the market over the 200 years it has been around. But nothing compares to what happened on Tuesday October 29th 1929, this day is known as "Black Tuesday" this was the huge crash in the market because of the massive selling of stocks which lead to the markets crash which is known as Black Tuesday.  Many things go into investing and the buying of s

What even happened after WWI?

Image
World War One is finally over, the world is in shock of how many people have died. The final toll was, 22 million deaths and 11 million of which were civilians. Over 20 million wounded, 10 million refugees across the world. The war cost a whopping total of $338 million dollars. This is the first time ever in the history of the earth where so many lives have been lost, the toll took America by storm and we were in great sadness because of all the lives that have been lost during what people call "The Great War"  Life was hard after world war one, America doubled their economy during that time because America was producing weapons for other country during the war. America's economy was booming during the war so when the war is over and nobody needs weapons and supplies anymore the economy dipped after the war. America was now shifting from wartime products so no money is pouring into America like it was when world war one was taking place. Another rising problem that i

How Imperialism changed the world we live in today

Image
First what is Imperialism? Imperialism is when stronger nations extend economic, political and, military control over weaker territories. Imperialism can be caused by four major causes, economic, military strength, nationalism and socialism and, "no more frontier." All of these causes are how imperialism can be enforced in a country. One of the causes of imperialism is economics when stronger nations see value in a smaller country and want to take over their market of raw materials. For example when The U.S found out that Hawaii had a rich market of sugar the U.S was very intrigued and wanted a piece of it because they saw big value in the sugar market, the sugar plantations in Hawaii dominated 75% of the Hawaiian market. This dominance of the market led the U.S president McKinley putting a tariff on sugar so the government could make money off of the imported sugar which was a 4% tax on the sugar from Hawaii. This is a perfect example of imperialism because the U.S saw a w

Do all things have good endings?

Image
Does all things have a good ending?  Some people may say so but I don't think so because I've had a lot happen to me over many years. Some things range from movies to actual life altering events. For example one thing that changed me forever was when I came to Athens Drive, I had no friend what so ever, that was pretty bad and i still have a long way to go till the end. Something that also has a lot more work to be done is "women's rights" this is a major issue today and even back early in the 19th century.  Women in the early 19th century had it very bad that got little to no pay on he places that they worked, and the places that they worked were not clean at all and had little to no space at all. They working conditions were absolutely awful. They were just asking for an accident to happen. Then on March 25th the Triangle Shirtwaist Company factory in New York City burned, killing 145 workers. It is remembered as one of the most infamous incidents in

Does the past affect the future?  In today's day in age people all around the world are never asking "what" but "why." Why is that? Why do we always have to ask why? Sometimes I wonder how I got to where I am today and how I got there, for example how do I know how to swim? It's because at a very young age both of my parents taught me how to swim by putting me in swim lessons for many years so that if I'm ever in a situation where I need to swim I am able too, so if I go to a pool party with friends I'm not the kid on the side of the pool watching everybody have fun in the pool, since I can swim I can enjoy quality time with friends and have fun in the pool. This demonstrates a perfect way of how the past always affects the future. What if my parents never put me through swim lessons? I wouldn't have been able to have fun at that party, or even worse what if i got pushed in the pool? What would I have done?  If I were to ask you, "w
